3 ways to transcribe an online video or podcast
Recall generates a transcript for a YouTube video, a podcast, or a social post on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or X. Paste a link, share it from your phone, or save it from the browser.
Paste a video or podcast link
Open the web app, where Add Content is already open. Paste a YouTube video, a podcast episode, or a public social video Recall can read.
Share a video or a podcast
On iPhone or Android, open the video or the episode and tap Share, then Recall. If Recall is missing the first time, tap More and turn it on. The video or episode lands in your knowledge base.

On a computer, open the page in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari and use the Recall AI extension. One click saves what you are watching.
What online videos and podcasts can you transcribe?
Recall supports online transcription. It generates transcripts for long-form and short-form video and audio you open from a link.
YouTube videos and Shorts
Videos and Shorts are transcribed, with or without captions. A video of 5 hours or longer needs existing captions. Live streams can be saved once a recording is available.
Podcast episodes
An Apple Podcasts or Spotify episode is transcribed, with timestamps when they are available. A show page is not transcribed. Paid episodes need a public version of the audio.
TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X
Recall generates TikTok transcripts, Instagram Reel transcripts, Facebook video transcripts, and transcripts of videos when you save a Twitter post. Instagram videos in a mixed carousel are not transcribed, and replies on an X post are not included.
What Recall does with a transcript
Saving the video or the episode is the first step. Recall then turns the audio and video into text and organizes it.
Recall saves the video or episode
Recall saves the video or the episode in your second brain, with everything else you keep.
Recall generates the transcript
Paste a link, and Recall turns the spoken words into text. Recall keeps the transcript with the source.
YouTube and podcasts also get a summary
A YouTube video and a podcast episode get a short version as well as the transcript. A TikTok, an Instagram video, and a Facebook video get the transcript.
Recall organizes the transcript
Recall organizes the transcript for you, so it lives with everything else in your second brain.
Chat with the transcript
Ask what was said, or ask across several videos you saved. The answer comes from what you saved.
Recall connects the transcript
Recall links the transcript to the other videos, articles, and notes you saved on the same idea.
